eleven years in the making

Anderson first asks Ireland out
For those of you who don't know, our story begins way back in 2012 (10+ years!) at the start of high school when we first met through mutual friends. At first, Ireland thought she was too cool and popular for a nerdy guy like me. However, she soon learned that I was one of the funniest and nicest guys of all time and we slowly began to talk more and more, even leading to numerous late-night conversations over Facebook messenger and Skype. Fast forward two years, and we officially began dating during junior year of high school. Between movie dates and late-days spent at school, we really began to connect with each other. Little did we know the wild journey that this would take us down.
College decision day and high school graduation
As college approached, we didn't know what to expect, but rather made promises to each other to try and make things work despite going to college in completely separate states in Ohio and California. It was only during this time of long distance we realized how much we valued each other's company. Daily Facetimes were a necessity. Nearly every vacation opportunity was taken to visit each other or family. We never knew where our future career paths would take us but we certainly knew that we were dedicated towards each other.

First trip together to Hawaii!
Ireland visits Anderson. A lot.
We enjoyed long distance so much that we decided to do another 4 years of it as one of us went to medical school in Toledo, Ohio while the other decided that Toledo was too grand and fancy and decided to stay in the small humble city of Los Angeles, California. Throughout these long dreaded years of distance, our commitment to each other never wavered. Each visit brought so much joy but was so short lived. We could not wait for the day that we could finally be in the same area...

Anderson does his away rotation in LA and scouts out potential engagement spot

Match day, Anderson moves to Dayton, Ohio
Match day comes around. The end of long distance... or was it? That letter was opened and....DAYTON!!!. 1 more year of long distance. It was arguably the toughest year for both of us between residency, starting clinical rotations for physical therapy, and limited opportunities for extended time off.
Ireland and Anderson get engaged at the spot he scouted out 2 years ago in LA
As our relationship hit the 10 year mark, Ireland wondered if there was ever going to be a proposal or a ring on her finger. She dropped hints...almost weekly. She didn't think there was even a plan...until February came around. On February 16, 2025, we were engaged at last in LA, on a coastline trail that we had visited 2 years prior. It was a beautiful week of celebrations and looking forward to the future filled with laughter, joy, and love. All those years of long distance and traveling back and forth amounted to this point, where we could finally be together.

Ireland becomes a midwestern girl
The light came at the end of the tunnel on July 5th, when Ireland finally moved to Dayton to embrace Midwest culture. As we look towards our wedding date, we have been busy catching up on lost time; exploring a new city and the surrounding cities, trying new foods and hobbies, watching plenty of TV, and continuously growing within our relationship.
For our friends and family, thank you for sharing this journey with us and all of your support along the way. No matter what chapter you entered our lives during, we are happy to have shared this journey with you and are excited to be able to celebrate our upcoming wedding!
